Rebirth

I was ready for a new garden and needed help.

The garden was in such bad shape that I needed to do something drastic. Even before all of the disasters, I knew I had clayey soil. For the first time, I decided to hire someone to help me. I contracted Denise and Randy, who were very helpful. They made some suggestions on what to do about the drainage problem, and recommended using gravel and pavers in the area that no longer had grass. Denise offered information on how to amend the soil, and what plants to consider. After the French drain was installed, they arrived. They worked on getting rid of the few weeds in the newly designated patio area and applying gypsum to the soil . Next they installed the gravel and pavers. They found some gorgeous river rocks for bed edging, and tons of plants! It was so exciting to see the rows of pots of plants in that sad garden. When they were finally in the ground, suddenly the yard started filling up with painted lady butterflies (by chance, there were thousands of them here because of all the rain). Then the bees came, and other creatures. The new garden was like a Phoenix arising from the ashes.
